How to monitor usage by time: Class level
If your school asks learners to complete a certain amount of time on Bedrock per week, you can use the 'Time spent' report to track this. The report also shows learners who have not spent any time actively completing learning in Bedrock.
- Click on class reports
- Click on ‘Time spent'
- Choose your date parameters and click ‘Go’
You can also use the 'Weekly engagement' report. Along with monitoring points, this report shows the total time that learners have spent learning on the platform. To access this report, click on class reports and then the ‘Weekly engagement’ report. Select the date range you wish to see and click go.
Time spent can also be viewed in the 'Student engagement' report. To access this report:

- Select the date range you’d like to view, excluding dates if you wish
- Click ‘go’ to run the report
- You will see a notification appear when the report is ready to view

To view a leaderboard that ranks learners by time spent on the platform:
- Click on 'School reports'
- Click on the 'Time spent leaderboard'
- Select your date parameters
- Click ‘go’
To see a leaderboard that is ranked by year group, SEND status, EAL status, gender or Pupil Premium status, select from the report options dropdown menu.
This report is particularly useful when running competitions between year groups. Some schools use this report as a way to motivate learners to complete more Bedrock lessons by offering a year group reward (such as 10 minutes extra on lunch/pizza party etc) for having the most time spent in a given time period. The data can also be used in assemblies/tutor time presentations.
This report is also useful when tracking implementation and targeting efforts of motivation. For example, from looking at this report, the school may be able to infer that their pupil premium learners are struggling to access Bedrock at home so additional support could be put in place in school for these learners.
You can also monitor learner usage by lesson completion and/or by points earned.
