To ensure that Bedrock’s Reading Test provides an accurate measure of your learners’ ability, it is possible to void a result if you need to, such as in instances of malpractice or poor engagement.

A result can be voided at any time within the testing window. Any teacher can void a test using their Bedrock account, regardless of who set up the test originally.

Remember

Each test can be voided once per token. Tests are also automatically voided if they are paused for over 60 minutes to protect the validity and reliability of the test data. The void reason will show as 'auto-voided due to pause exceeding 60 minutes.'

Voiding a learner’s test result

  1. Log in to your Bedrock teacher account.
  2. Go to the Reading Test.
  3. Select the name of the test that the learner is taking.
  4. Click the red cross button next to the learner’s test status.
  5. Select the void reason from the drop-down list.
  6. Click ‘Void’ to confirm
  7. The learner’s result will now have the ‘Void’ status, and the reason will be visible to all teachers within the school.

Note

It is possible to void a test any time after it has started; you don’t need to wait for the learner to finish it if you believe a lack of engagement or instance of malpractice has occurred.

The first time you void a test, a new one will be automatically created within the same test, allowing the learner to have another attempt. You can reschedule this for another time, or the learner will be able to start immediately as long as they begin within an hour of the scheduled time.

If you void a test for the second time, the token will be spent, and another test will not be automatically created. You will need to set up a new test for the learner by adding them to a different test.
