Scheduling the Reading Test

Have more questions? Submit a request

Bedrock's Reading Test is entirely flexible to your school's needs. It can be scheduled to cater for a range of different circumstances, allowing teachers to remain organised while being responsive to unforeseen changes.

The test can be scheduled in advance of the date and time it will be conducted, or it can be scheduled to start immediately.

Scheduling a test

Scheduling a test in advance

Scheduling is when you set a time for the Reading Test to take place. Doing so makes the test automatically available to learners at your chosen date and time, reducing manual workload and minimising disruption on test day.

  1. From your ‘teacher dashboard,’ click on the ‘Reading Test’ tab
  2. Ensure you are on the ‘Tests’ tab
  3. Click ‘Add test’
  4. Enter a name for the test; the class/group name would be best here
  5. Enter a description for the test; all teachers can see the tests, so use this description to make the purpose of the test clear
  6. Click on the calendar icon under ‘Scheduled Date/Time’ to choose a date for the test
  7. Choose a start time in HH:MM format using a 24h clock

Remember

Learners within a test will have to take the test at the same time, and will have one hour to start the test after the scheduled time. Once they have started the test, there is no time limit to finishing the test.

  1. OPTIONAL: You can add the test to a testing cycle and testing window using the drop-down menu, or create a new cycle and window for the test by clicking ‘New cycle’. You do not need to link your test to a cycle if you would like it to be a standalone test.
  2. Click ‘Add test’ to save the test, or ‘Cancel’ to discard your progress

Remember

Always check that you have learners assigned to the test. If no learners are assigned, the test will not be visible to your class/group at all.

Scheduling a test to start immediately

To respond to unique situations and circumstances, you can also schedule a test to start immediately.

When scheduling a test following the steps above, simply click the ‘Start now’ button instead of selecting a date and time. This will prefill these fields and make the test immediately available to assigned learners when you click ‘Save’.

Editing an existing test

If you want to edit a test you have previously created, follow these steps:

  1. On the ‘Tests’ tab, select the class you wish to amend
  2. Click the pencil button:  Pencil icon.png
  3. Make any amends to the test name or description
  4. Click on the calendar icon under ‘Scheduled Date/Time’ to make any amends to the date for the test
  5. Choose a start time in HH:MM format using a 24h clock
  6. OPTIONAL: Assign the test to a cycle/window by using the drop-down menu under ‘Cycle’. You do not need to link your test to a cycle if you would like it to be a standalone test, however.
  7. Click ‘Add test’ to save the test, or ‘Cancel’ to discard your progress

Remember, the next step is to assign learners to the test.

Missed your scheduled test?

If a scheduled test has been missed, whether by a single learner or a whole class, it can be rescheduled for a new time.
