If your school has completed your Reading Tests, you’re ready to use that data to inform teaching decisions and plan effective interventions. Here are four ways to get the most out of it:
1. Keep your tests in the same cycle and window
Ensure that all tests are grouped within the same cycle and window so you can download the results together on one spreadsheet.
Note
If you haven’t yet set up your cycles or windows, don’t worry, you can do this after testing. Follow this guide for setting up cycles and this guide for creating windows to get started.
2. Download your test results
Click the ‘Download results’ button to export your data. You can do this as soon as one student has completed the test.
You can download results at the individual test, window, or cycle level.
If you download at the window level, all tests within that window will appear on a single spreadsheet.
3. Check test engagement before analysing
Before diving into the data, take a moment to review test engagement.
- Check the completion status of all students to ensure everyone has finished their test. You can do this by downloading the status report.
- Any test completed in under 10 minutes should be considered for voiding, and the student should be asked to resit the test.
- Guidance on how to void a test can be found here.
4. Use the Standard Age Score (SAS) to guide support
The Standard Age Score (SAS) helps identify students who may benefit from additional support or greater challenge.
To quickly spot these learners, refer to the ‘SAS Descriptor’ column in your results.
